Horse to Watch: Pleuven

Pleuven is a two-year-old colt by Turtle Bowl, who also sired Lucayan, out of a Singspiel (1996 Eclipse Champion Grass Horse) mare. Pleuven's first four starts were in France, where he finished on a two-race win streak after backing up his maiden win with a victory in a listed stakes. In his one poor finish overseas, he still only finished two and a half lengths behind the winner, Testa Rossi, who went on to win the G3 Miss Grillo before finishing second in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf.

In what was his first start in America, the G3 Dania Beach Stakes, Pleuven broke slowly and was held up at the rear, spotting the field well over ten lengths at the half. Upon entering the straight, however, he began a furious run that saw him finish a good closing third.
